A Simple Organization Wheel

This organizational wheel is a simple, straight-forward way to view a Community Networking collaboration. Some of the key elements are:
  • The wheel represents the whole partnership. In the center are the key partners, a part-time Local Coordinator and the Project Director, who oversee the project as a whole. This group can expand over time, though it is best if it stays relatively small, say, no more than 10-12 members. This is because the larger the core group gets, the more processing things and getting the work done gets bogged down.
  • The spokes of the wheel are the working groups or committees. A key partner should chair, or be in charge of convening and running these groups. Members come from the community at large.
  • Everything outside the wheel really is the total community.
  • If you involve the community in this process, your organization will be "well-spoken". Pardon the pun.
